Did Week 2 Day 2 of C25K today. This is a photo of me chilling in my chair afterward. It was surprisingly pleasant. I had been dreading it for most of the day because the past couple of runs were MISERABLE (heartburn, no energy, etc…). I was pleasantly surprised to not feel awful while running today!
Oh man what a glorious dinner. We pulled out the grill and grilled some hamburgers. We decided to make a “Juicy Lucy” for each of us. For those of you that have not experienced a juicy lucy, it is basically a hamburger with cheese in side. You take two hamburger patties, place cheese inside of them, and then crush the edges.
I decided to wrap my juicy lucy in a low carb tortilla with mayo. I also cooked up some delicious green beans with bacon. Oooooh what a feast.
I just got in from the grocery. The fridge, freezer, and pantry are stocked for another full week or two of keto! Some of the highlights:
I also got quite a few frozen vegetables (broccoli in butter sauce, cauliflower & cheese, etc…). They’ve got some sugar in them… but they were a good price and 4-5g net carbs per serving isn’t the end of the world.
I nearly bought some diet soda and/or flavored water (propel) but decided against it because I have some type of issue with certain artificial sweeteners. I tend to get bored with water and I’ve been trying to limit my coffee habit to one cup a day. I decided today that I’m going to try to work on detoxing from artificially sweetened drinks for at least a week or two. Maybe that will “reset” my pallet and I just won’t crave them so much. If I still do, I might have to start investigating a “treat” beverage.
This being my second day back on full keto (after cheating on Friday), I have to say that it’s great to eat a delicious breakfast (eggs & fried bologna) and not be hungry until dinner time. I keep thinking “what should I have for lunch” mostly out of habit. I’m not really hungry, I just feel like I should eat something.
Well crap. Yesterday was disappointing. I went into work with my usual breakfast (Scrambled Eggs & fried bologna). Later I ate a Quest White Chocoloate Raspberry protein bar. Apparently I’m allergic to something in them or it just didn’t agree with me because I promptly started feeling like crap. I won’t bore you with all of the details but I ended up eating a horrible lunch (Juicy Lucy with Sweet Potato fries), a horrible dinner (Graffiti Burger with fries and an oreo shake), and drinking several beers. It seemed like such a good idea at the time (and ultimately made me feel better - probably mostly the beer) but today all I can think is “ugh, now I have to start over again.”
I just finished cooking my usual breakfast (yes I know it’s almost 1:30PM haha) and now I’m sitting here trying to decide how I want to proceed. I know that I can’t be successful with a regular low-fat diet - history has proven that. The only diet that I have ever been successful with is a low-cab diet. If I could just make it through the first month, I know that it would get a lot easier. I just can’t seem to make that jump.
